We have decided to pilot the production of LIBRES on a bi-annual basis for the time being. I am working towards rebuilding the associate editorial team and gaining a firm commitment from them to assist with the securing and reviewing of copy. Until such time as this is working well, it is much more satisfactory for us as an editorial team and, I would think, to you as the reader to have fewer, though more complete issues. Consequently our production cycle will be March and September until further notice.
The use of relation matching in information retrieval by Christopher Soo-Guan Khoo LIBRES Volume 7, Issue 2 (September 1997)
Most information retrieval systems use keyword-matching to identify documents that may be relevant to the user’s query. The user’s query may contain multiple concepts linked together with relations. However, keyword matching methods ignore relations that are expressed in the query. This paper discusses the use of relation matching in information retrieval – matching terms and relations between terms expressed in the query with terms and relations found in the documents. Previous studies on relation matching are surveyed, and related issues and problems are discussed. The results of research carried out as part of the author’s dissertation are reported and current research efforts are outlined.
